My True Self
Artist Statement:
The overall message I am trying to convey in this image is my life and my interests. Every layer in this image is a piece of my life. Layer one is my selfie which represents who I am. Layer two is my laptop because I use it every day and it affects my life very much. My third layer is my mouse because I use it with my laptop to play games every day. Layer 4 is my headset because I need it to listen to music, something I do all the time. Layer 5 is a white block that is used to brighten the photo and make it more realistic. Layer 6 is Dr.Pepper because I drink it more than any other soft drink. I used a scaling effect in photoshop to represent different objects and their effects on my life based on size in the image. My overall message is that I play games and do it every day, that is why it makes me.

Description: This is a good friend of my Chris W. We play games together often after school. I have been friends with him since 5th grade. I took the photo in his home while we were hanging out. To get the best possible image I told him stand near the window and look towards it to have the light reflect off of his glasses. One challenge of this project was for the framing I had to be a foot from my subject. Another challenge was the horizon line would be impossible if I wanted a close photo. The selective focus was not hard to get because the background was a solid color.

Description: This person is my teacher Ms.Vincent. She teaches different varieties of science, and does it well. I used her because she is photogenic and I figured that would be a good quality for an image. I took the photos in her classroom because I don't see her outside of school. I had her stand near the cupboards of her room to get a good background and make sure the light from the windows hit her head on. One challenge I had while doing this was trying to use the rule of thirds. The second challenge I faced was artificial lighting was dominant in the photo resulting in a yellow-orange tint. A third problem I had was a balance with colors that don't blend.
